  • Advanced Organization, Time Management & Study Skills Camp

    Advanced Jr. High Organization, Study Skills and Time Management Camp: 7th & 8th grade students will be taught how to use a planner wisely, tips to keep their binder and locker organized, and also learn valuable study and time management skills. The material covered in this camp will be more advanced than the 6th-grade camp. An added bonus to this camp is that students will be given the binder set-up page for their grade and their locker number so they can set up their locker before orientation. Great way to start off the year! 6th graders must complete Jr. High Organization, Study Skills, and Time Management Camp before attending.

  • Art Camp | Elementary

    For the first time ever, Mrs. Reavis, our Faith HS Art teacher, is inviting any student who would love to grow in their artistic skill to a week of engaging and challenging art-making!  Students will use a variety of materials to create several projects ranging from mixed media, painting, drawing, and sculpture.     Monday - Knife Skills 101 and Latin Flavors Look sharp and be safe! Students will learn how to safely use a knife to chop, dice, and julienne. Today's menu features Chicken Fajitas with all the condiments. Students will use their knife skills to prep all the ingredients themselves (with close supervision). Chef Patrick will talk about the many herbs and spices used in Latin cooking and how they work together to create memorable eating experiences. Then it’s time to put together the Fajitas with homemade corn tortillas and top with all the delicious condiments. Fresh guacamole, salsa ranchera, and salsa verde will be made along with the fajitas.

    Tuesday - Kitchen Skills 101 and American Cuisine Students continue their Culinary world tour while learning about kitchen equipment, kitchen safety, hygiene, and culinary terminology. Students will learn about how food and sitting down for a home cooked meal brings people together and creates memories that last a lifetime. Chef Patrick will then lead students through making homemade dumplings, buttermilk biscuits, and a delicious dish of southern style chicken and dumplings. Good for the soul.

    Wednesday - Mother Sauces and Italy The 5 Mother Sauces are the backbone of any good chef, essential to making all your favorite meals. Here students will learn the foundations of really good cooking and are taught to explore their creative side. Stock, roux, bechamel, veloute, espagnole, tomato, hollandaise, oh my! Each camper will make their own meatballs and red sauce to be enjoyed with penne pasta. Balanced with a salad and homemade Caesar dressing.

    Thursday - Flavor Dynamics and Eastern Cuisine Salty, Sweet, Bitter, Sour, heat, and Umami. Students will train their palates to taste each of these individually, and how they interact when used with each other and on meats and vegetables. The students will then create their very own teriyaki sauce for a delightful dish of teriyaki chicken fried rice to incorporate all the flavor dynamics learned in class.

    Learn to play in a drumline! Students will learn one or more of the following: snare drum, bass drum, tenor drums, cymbals, and mallet keyboards. Mr. Boyce will have you rockin' by the end of the 4 day camp! Students who have at least 1 year of piano lessons and/or 1 year with any school drumline may attend (Please, address any questions to Mr. Boyce).     Our Day Camp will provide students in grades K-5 with fun activities, games, and crafts that will promote learning through play, with character and spiritual development. Activities will range from water games, crafts, themed group games, in addition to beginning each day with worship and devotion to center our thoughts and mind on Christ. Each week we will welcome visitors to the camp with an “in-house” field trip experience.     Elementary: Girls Basketball fundamental camp dedicated to creating a fun environment while developing the fundamentals of the game. We will focus on individual skills to enhance the player, while instilling team fundamentals.

    So you are going to be a junior high student... I know what you are thinking- don't we want to avoid the drama? Why not embrace drama that will actually help you over the next few years.     Have you ever dreamed of making a movie? In this camp, you will learn how to make that dream a reality! We will learn all about the technical aspects of filmmaking, including: Lighting, Sound, Camera Angles/Shots, and Editing. We will also have the opportunity to explore different uses of these skills. We will make commercials, conduct documentary style interviews, and even shoot a 2 person scene as if we were on a film set. Who knows, we might have the next Steven Spielberg walking our halls right now!

  • Mock Trial Debate Camp

    Mock Trial  Camp is intended to train students to express their opinions and develop their communication skills, as they participate in mock trials. They will have the chance to build confidence and debate skills in a comfortable environment. Through participating in our middle school debate camps, students will have access to expert instruction and the resources and training necessary for success in debate. Our aim is to equip each camper with foundational tools needed for mock trial and debate competition. They will learn the basic techniques that lawyers and debaters use in the courtroom, such as delivering speeches, cross-examining, and gathering evidence. Mrs. Toce is the speech and debate director and coach at Grapevine Faith. This camp is great preparation to participate on the middle school and high school speech and debate teams.

    During this week's Great Faith Bake Off, we'll be perfecting cookies and cakes! First, each camper will learn the fundamentals of baking the perfect chewy-gooey cookies and moist, flavorful cakes. Then, they will each have the opportunity to invent their own cookie and cake recipe with the ingredients provided for a showstopper presentation and judging by their fellow bakers.     Transitioning to Junior High Camp (6th) - This camp is designed to help 6th graders transition smoothly into the junior high language arts program at Faith. We will primarily focus on what a student should expect from reading and writing classes next year, but will also teach them general things that will help create a stress-free start as a new junior high student. In addition, we will work each day of the camp to complete the summer reading project, so come prepared by having read one of the required books (The Goodbye Season or A Single Shard).

    Grades 9-12: This camp is for players with previous playing experience.  The camp will touch on a little bit of everything, fundamental skills, advanced skills, group play, and team strategies.  The purpose of the camp is to get the players touching the ball again and get ready for the upcoming school season.
