The Heart of Faith: Teachers of the Year 2019
Grapevine Faith Christian School is proud to employ faculty dedicated to exceptional teaching and who wholeheartedly love and serve Grapevine Faith students and their families. Each year, two special teachers - one elementary and one secondary - are nominated by their peers to be honored as Teachers of the Year. Thanks to Faith parents Bobby and Karla Beck and Bobby Beck’s Lewisville Volkswagen, both teachers get to spend their summer driving with the top down in Volkswagen Convertible Beetles!
This year’s Elementary Teacher of the Year is Heather Lauden, STEAM science teacher. As one of Grapevine Faith’s most innovative minds, she encourages and inspires her students to search for more meaning in what they are learning, rather than settle for surface-level answers. She gives her students a voice and helps them develop skills and experiences necessary for becoming successful leaders. In recent years, she has added a chicken coop to the Worth Street garden, implemented a school-wide recycling program, and received a grant from the City of Grapevine to reduce water bottle waste. Mrs. Lauden also sponsors two after school clubs - STEAM and 4H - all while finishing her Master’s Degree in May. We’re honored that our elementary students get to learn from Mrs. Lauden.
The Secondary Teacher of the Year is Andy Wright, one of the high school Bible teachers. He’s recognized for his passion for building relationships with students. His teaching clearly demonstrates that he cares most about connecting to students personally while helping them learn more about the Bible. He loves the Lord and the scriptures, and he wants to share that love with students and fellow faculty. He’s another great example of Grapevine Faith’s commitment to helping students develop spiritually by getting to know them in a personal, relational setting. We’re so happy to honor Mr. Wright in this way!
Teachers like Mrs. Lauden and Mr. Wright are the glue that holds our school together. They carry out the heart of Faith in all they do, beyond just teaching in the classroom. It’s because of them that our students know how deeply they are loved and welcomed when they come to school each day and are able to leave prepared for future success in college and careers. We love celebrating our teachers!
