Academic & College Advising

The GFCS Office of Academic & College Advising exists to inform and guide high school students and their families through the college search and application process. Preparation along the way, beginning with the freshman year, will result in a well-informed and exciting college match for the student.

Advising Timeline

List of 4 items.

  • 9th Grade: Look Ahead

The purpose of freshman year is to get students off to a good start academically. Students should aim for good grades and start exploring their interests and possible career choices. The office of Academic & College Advising helps students begin to build their resumes and get involved in extracurricular activities.
  • 10th Grade: Keep the Ball Rolling

Like the year before, sophomore students are encouraged to build their resumes by pursuing good grades in challenging academics and leadership roles in extracurricular activities. The office of Academic & College Advising also works to prepare tenth grade students for ACT and SAT testing by taking sophomore-level pre-tests and providing information on local test prep classes.
  • 11th Grade: Time to Get Serious

Eleventh grade is a crucial academic year for students at Grapevine Faith. Juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT as an SAT pre-test and National Merit Scholarship qualifying test in addition to preparing for and taking the ACT and SAT. Additionally, students attend college fairs, visit college campuses, and explore scholarship options, all the while keeping up with their grades and extracurriculars.
  • 12th Grade: Almost There

Senior year is a culmination of the college prep process. Seniors apply for colleges and decide on the school of their choice, all with the support and encouragement of the office of Academic & College Advising. By the time students receive their diplomas at graduation, they are well prepared for the next steps in their educational journeys.

The freshman class visits four different Texas colleges--Dallas Baptist University, Texas Christian University, Texas A&M University, and Baylor University--where they tour each campus and hear from college representatives. The trip introduces students to college visits and preparations while infusing a “big picture” mindset early on in their high school careers.
Grapevine Faith Christian School exists to develop and graduate authentic Christian leaders.
