Faith Students Shine in Prestigious Summer Leadership Programs

Several Grapevine Faith Christian School students have spent their summer developing leadership skills through highly respected state and military leadership programs.

Rising senior Parker Allen attended Texas Boys State, a weeklong leadership program where students learn how government functions by participating in a simulated state government. Through the experience, students develop skills in public speaking, teamwork, leadership, and civic responsibility while gaining firsthand experience in the democratic process. Boys State is recognized by colleges, employers, and scholarship organizations as one of the nation's premier leadership programs.

Parker said the week was "a revolutionary experience."

"I got to meet people from all around the state and make a lot of friends along the way. I want to lead and help the next year's juniors to go to Boys State and make it a little more recognized within the school," he said.

Faith has a growing tradition of participation in Boys State, with Clark Lemmerman and Ian Harriger representing the school during the summer of 2025.

Faith also celebrated the participation of rising seniors Ali Ciccone and Tatum Neal at Texas Girls State. Girls State is a weeklong immersive leadership program where students learn how government works through active participation in a mock state government while building confidence, collaboration, decision-making, and leadership skills.

Ali made history as Faith's first student to attend Girls State. Through her family's initiative and support, the school established its connection with the program. When an additional opening became available, Ali invited her friend, Tatum Neal, to join her, allowing both students to experience the prestigious program together.

Reflecting on her experience, Ali said, "Girls State was like nothing I would have imagined. I learned so much, and I am so thankful I had the experience to attend. Giving a speech to more than 350 people was definitely something that I was not used to! I met so many new people and had so much fun."

In addition to Girls State, Ali also participated in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force Summer Leadership Programs, where she experienced military leadership training and gained insight into service academy life.

"Navy and Air Force were eye-opening experiences that were challenging but also amazing opportunities," Ali said. "From these two programs I was exposed to life as a plebe and learned so much."
