Welcome to the Eighth Grade

Student Council

Students in the eighth grade are eligible to serve on the FCS Jr. High Student Council. Here they learn to become authentic Christian leaders by spearheading a number of service projects. Each year council members are invited to participate in a canned food drive as well as assist in getting food to needy families. In addition, they attend a leadership retreat where they learn problem-solving skills.

Student Leadership University

Students in the eighth grade are eligible to participate in the Student Leadership University beginning the summer following their eighth grade year. Each student in SLU is exposed to comprehensive programs focusing on leadership skills such as time and life management, goal setting, dealing with conflict and difficult people, and developing a Christian worldview. SLU is a summer program that continues through the end of their 12th grade year.

Leadership Rocks

All students in the eighth grade attend Leadership Rocks, a leadership conference focusing on training and equipping leaders who can competently address the issues that are at the forefront of society.  At this conference students are challenged and stretched to reach and exceed their potential with interactive, dynamic speakers and real world leadership systems.

8th Grade Trip

Eighth graders take the opportunity to bond in the fall of each year as they visit an encampment located near Palo Duro Canyon. In addition to hiking and friend building time, kids are encouraged to participate in Encouragement Sessions where students practice edifying one another through verbal encouragement.
