National Honors Society

What is NHS?
The National Honor Society  (NHS) is a premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students across America. It is estimated that more than one million students participate in the middle school and high school organizations created and run by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginnings in 1921.
What is the purpose of NHS at Faith?
The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote authentic Christian leadership, and to develop a character that is pleasing to God in the students of Faith Christian School.
Who can join NHS?
Membership in the National Honor Society at Faith Christian School is both a privilege and an honor, recognizing a student’s high achievement in academics, leadership, character and service. The Faith Christian School chapter is open to students entering their junior or senior year who have been in attendance at Faith Christian School at least one semester.
When can students apply?
The selection process begins at the beginning of the fourth quarter of each school year. Most students apply when they are eligible at the end of their sophomore year. If not accepted during the first offering, students may reapply the next year if eligible.
How do I apply?
Eligible sophomores and juniors are invited to submit application paperwork by published deadlines.
What are the requirements?
Selection for membership is by a faculty council and is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and Christian service. Students must have earned at least a 3.0 GPA (as figured by the high school office for official transcript purposes), completed the community service hours as required for all high school Bible classes, and demonstrated a consistent respect for the conduct code expected of Faith Christian School students. The official selection process can be found here.
Once selected, members must maintain the same standards of membership that earned membership in the first place.
I have more questions—who can I contact?
