Faith students are taught that they will be the same person ten years from now as they are today except for the books they read, the places they go, the people they meet, and the things they memorize. Lion Leadership Academy provides students year round accountability and encouragement to read the right books, go to the right places, meet the right people, and memorize the right things.
Students entering the 9th - 12th grades are eligible to make application to the Lion Leadership Academy. All students must re-apply to the Academy at the beginning of each school year. Each applicant will participate in a professional interview as a part of the application process. Upon acceptance into the Academy, students begin working on their leadership portfolios for that school year. These portfolios include reports on leadership books that have been read; notes from conference speakers taken througout the year; leadership "report cards" from coaches and sponsors; attendance reports from church leaders; detailed accounts of mission involvement; et. The students submit their portfolio at the end of the school year. The completed portfolio allows the student to participate in the Student Leadership University program that takes place each summer.
Lion Leadership Academy students in the past have attended events such as the John Maxwell Conference for local business professionals. They participate in Leadership Rocks each year with other leadership students from around the state. Academy students have even been invited to participate in one of the largest creative pastor training conferences in the nation. Faith Lion Academy students have taken part in many meaningful moments from laying wreaths at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery to walking the beaches of Normandy. They have walked through the war memorials in Washington D.C. and acknowledged that freedom is not free. Lion Leadership Academy students have heard lectures from royalty in England, professional athletes, powerful politicians, self-made millionaires, and ordinary people that have been used in extraordinary ways to make an eternal difference.
