Elementary Spanish

Elementary Spanish

Elementary Spanish meets twice a week in kindergarten through fifth grades.  The Spanish language is introduced and developed using a variety of techniques, which meet the needs of varied learning styles (kinesthetic, visual, and auditory).  A “Total Physical Response” method is used, which requires student responses ranging from movement, pointing, pronunciation, and “yes/no” as indications of comprehension.  As students progress through grade levels, actual actions and full sentence answers are included to demonstrate comprehension and the ability to communicate in Spanish.  Games, songs, skits, and a variety of technology mediums are used to enhance and encourage learning.  Scripture memorization is integrated into the curriculum providing the students with the opportunity to hear and learn God’s Word in Spanish.   The program is designed to foster a love for learning a foreign language as students explore familiar and non-familiar content.
