Faith Christian School will sponsor its fifth annual Work-A-Thon as an outreach to the surrounding areas and a fundraiser for our school. During Work-A-Thon 2009, each student works on a designated day, either November 18 or 19. Junior high and high school students work off campus at various non-profit organizations that have partnered with Faith, such as homeless shelters, nursing homes, and food banks. Elementary students work on Faith’s campus performing beautification and clean-up tasks, such as planting flowers, raking leaves, and sweeping sidewalks. This event represents a tremendous opportunity to fulfill our mission of developing authentic Christian leadership in our students through service in our community.

…a testimony to the city

Work-A-Thon 2009 provides families an opportunity to join together and serve the City of Grapevine and our surrounding communities. Students will be asked to invite relatives and friends to support them by making donations for their work in the community or on campus. Kickoff will be Wednesday, September 16, for elementary students and Thursday, September 17, for grades 6-12. Every student will receive a packet containing instructions, various forms, and mailers, which are to be addressed and sent to all potential supporters. Please begin compiling a list of names and addresses of those your student will be contacting. Do not include on your list other Faith families or staff.

…families serving together

In addition to helping your child identify and contact sponsors, the most significant way that you can support Work-A-Thon 2009 is by example. We invite you to come and work beside your child, other Faith students and their family members, faculty, and staff on November 18 or 19. Please indicate your willingness to serve by returning the Parent Volunteer Form you will find included in your child’s packet. Together we can grow as servant leaders within the body of Christ.

Junior high students will work Wednesday morning, November 18, and elementary and high school students will both work on Thursday morning, November 19.
